Hamamelis × intermedia Pallida

Known as a classic cultivar, ‘Pallida’ produces masses of lemon-yellow, strap-like petals with a red-tinged calyx. Its perfume is among the strongest of all witch hazels, carrying on crisp winter days. The bare winter framework of spreading branches is transformed by this display, followed later by soft green leaves that flush yellow in autumn. Reaching around 2-4 m tall over time with a spreading, vase-shaped habit, it is well suited to woodland edges, mixed borders, or as a winter specimen close to a path where the fragrance can be enjoyed.
