Acer palmatum Higasayama

This striking Japanese maple begins the season with variegated leaves, green ribs with creamy-white edges flush with pink. In summer, it gets a more solid green color before finishing in a vibrant palette of yellow, orange, and red. 

Upright and moderate-growing, it reaches about 2 m in 10 years and matures gracefully beyond. It thrives in morning sun or light shade, making it a memorable specimen for both borders and containers.

Please note: Higasayama may occasionally produce green growth, especially during periods of vigorous growth. This is a normal variation and not a defect or reversion. For best variegation, put the tree in shady areas, let it leaf out as cold as possible, avoid heavy nitrogen fertilization, and allow the plant to mature naturally over time.
