Acer palmatum dissectum Flavescens

Flavescens is Latin for "turning yellow", and that sums up this laceleaf maple well. In spring, its finely dissected leaves emerge a soft yellow-green, then deepen to a fresh green in summer. In autumn, it lights up again in golden yellow with orange tints.

Like other dissectum maples, it forms a cascading, dome-shaped shrub with weeping branches. Its compact size makes it a lovely choice for a pot on the terrace or a sheltered spot in the garden. Leaf colour is best in half shade; in full sun, keep the soil reliably moist to avoid leaf scorch.
