Acer palmatum Demi-sec

Acer palmatum Demi-sec is a green dissectum that was introduced by Esveld. According to Cor Van Gelderen, it popped up while they were actively looking for a dissectum seedling that had a more upright growing form. The word 'dissectum' was scrabled and out came 'Demi sec' as it was neither mushroom shaped nor upright growing, but something in between. Hence 'demi-sec', as with champagne: sweet nor dry, but something in between. 

Cor is not lying, because its beautiful shape is exactly the reason why we picked up this cultivar in our own range a couple of years ago. The new growth has beautiful light green and orange to red edges to it.
