Acer palmatum Shin Koba Shojo

Shin Koba Shojo has bright red leaves in spring, which turn deep red in summer. It has one of the darkest and deepest red colors among red Japanese maples. In fall, it turns bright red once more.

We don't have a lot of further information on this plant as it is not mentioned in the three books ("maple bibles") of Vertrees, Cor Van Gelderen or D.M. Van Gelderen. The motherplant was sold to us by the famous Dick van der Maat. It is also mentioned on his website as a separate cultivar. All we know it is a maple that in terms of leaves looks a bit like Bloodgood, but remains really dark red to purple all through the year.
