Restock
Our restocks can get very busy, especially when rare cultivars become available. We announce each restock a few days in advance on Facebook and Instagram and, most importantly, through our newsletter. When we announce a specific date and time, we aim to make the new stock available around that time. With hundreds of cultivars being updated and many customers visiting the webshop simultaneously, it may take a few minutes before everything becomes visible and the website may temporarily respond more slowly than usual.
Availability and reservations
Some cultivars are available in very small quantities and may sell out within minutes. Depending on the cultivar, it may take until the following season — or even longer — before new plants become available. For particularly limited cultivars, a maximum of one plant per customer may apply. To keep things fair for everyone, we do not reserve plants through email, Facebook, Instagram or other messages. Availability in the webshop is what counts.
Adding a plant to your shopping cart does not reserve it. The plant remains available to other customers until your order has been successfully completed. This also applies when choosing bank transfer: once the order is completed, the plants are reserved, even though the actual payment may arrive a few days later. During busy restocks, a plant can therefore unfortunately sell out while it is still in your cart.
Plant size
If you ordered from us during the past months, you may have received a relatively large 3-litre plant. These trees had already completed two growing seasons. In autumn 2026, these older plants will be potted into 7.5-litre pots and a new generation of 3-litre plants will take their place in the webshop. As these younger trees have completed only one growing season, they will naturally be somewhat smaller.
You can buy them during the restock or wait until spring or summer 2027, when they will have grown considerably. The downside of waiting is, of course, that some cultivars may have sold out by then. A younger plant is not a lower-quality plant: it simply has had less time to grow and has the same potential to develop into the specimens you are used to receiving from us. More information can be found on our Plant sizes page.
Please also note that we cannot provide pictures of individual trees before purchase. With thousands of plants across hundreds of cultivars, this is simply not practical.
Multiple orders
If you place multiple separate orders, shipping costs are non-refundable. We may combine orders into one shipment when this is more efficient, but this does not result in a refund of shipping costs.
If you have already placed an order and would like to add more plants, you can email us instead. We can manually add them to your existing order and send you a payment request for the difference, including any additional shipping costs. However, sending us an email does not reserve those plants. They remain available to other customers until we have processed your request, so for very rare cultivars placing a new order may be the safer option.
Shipping
Restocks generate a large number of orders in a very short period, so shipping may take longer than our usual one-week timeframe. The Maple Nursery is still a small business that we run alongside our regular jobs, with most order preparation taking place during weekends. During particularly busy periods, it may therefore take two, three or even four weeks before your order is shipped. We process orders as quickly as we can and appreciate your patience.
Minor cosmetic damage can occur during transport. A few leaves may drop, tear or crack, and occasionally a small twig may break. This does not affect the health of the tree and new growth will replace any damaged foliage. Significant structural damage is, of course, a different matter; if that happens, please contact us.
Pickup
If you prefer to collect your order, select Pickup at checkout. Once your order has been prepared, we will take it to our pickup location and contact you by email to arrange an appointment. Please do not arrive without an appointment, as your order — or someone to assist you — may not be there. Please note that our pickup location is not the location of our nursery.
Thank you
We know that restocks can get hectic, particularly when many people are looking for the same rare cultivars. We produce more plants every year, but rare Japanese maples take time to propagate and grow. Thank you for your patience, and good luck with the 2026 restock!
