Acer palmatum Shojo Shidare

A rare weeping laceleaf maple introduced from Kanagawa in 1975. Spring brings burgundy-red cascading foliage that holds its color into summer, then flares into scarlet in autumn. Compact yet expressive, reaching about 1.5 m tall with sweeping spread in around 10 years. Best placed in partial shade or morning sun to enhance its sculptural form and lasting color.
