Acer palmatum Red Spray

A great upright-form Japanese maple that bursts into bright red in spring (best when planted in full sun), shifts to maroon and then bronzy-green in summer, and puts on a bold crimson-red show in autumn.

Grows to around 3 m in height over 10 years, with mature specimens reaching up to 5–6 m.

Originally selected for its exceptional red spring color, this cultivar is ideal as a focal canopy tree in gardens with open light and well-drained soil.
